With EUREF-Campus Düsseldorf, EUREF AG has set up an international showcase for the shift to renewable energy. It is the second innovation campus of its kind in Germany.

Around 4,000 employees from established companies and start-ups as well as science and research will be working in close collaboration and in an inspiring environment on the future subjects of energy, mobility and sustainability.

EUREF-Campus Düsseldorf will be a place where ideas are conceived, implemented and tested for their success. The use of intelligent architecture, regenerative energy sources, new forms of energy storage and systematic networking of state-of-the-art technology, will create a highly visible place of the future and an example for many metropolitan areas around the world. EUREF-Campus Düsseldorf will also meet the German Federal Government’s CO₂ climate protection targets for the year 2045 – right from the start.

Welcome to EUREF-Campus Düsseldorf

Dr Ludger Hellenthal, managing partner of "H2 Green Power & Logistics GmbH" is currently on tour in Germany with the hydrogen truck "Hyundai Xcient Fuel Cell". It had already passed eleven cities in seven federal states when it arrived in Schöneberg on the EUREF-Campus on 7 December.

Groundbreaking ceremony in Düsseldorf

The EUREF-Campus in Berlin-Schöneberg has established itself and will be completed in 2023. Now, the campus is about to become an export hit – in Düsseldorf, a second EUREF-Campus will be built. On 26 August, a groundbreaking ceremony took place. Future tenants of the campus attended the ceremony, as well as the City of Düsseldorf with its Mayor Dr. Stephan Keller and the State of North-Rhine Westphalia with its Prime Minister Armin Laschet.

The EUREF Campus Düsseldorf is set to become the new, climate-neutral corporate headquarters of SPIE Deutschland & Zentraleuropa, supporting the company's growth and sustainability targets. Uwe Kerkmann, Head of EUREF-Campus Düsseldorf, attended this year’s Start-up Week in Düsseldorf. Together with Stadtwerke Düsseldorf (the biggest energy provider in the city) he discussed about the city’s goal to be “Climate-neutral by 2035”. Topics included were mobility solutions of the future, new energy concepts and climate-neutral buildings, where EUREF-Campus Düsseldorf is a pioneer in its field.

Mayor Thomas Geisel announced a “settlement project of a very special kind” in May 2019. The official contract signing for this major project for the business and innovation location Düsseldorf took place in the presence of Düsseldorf's Mayor Thomas Geisel, at the real estate trade fair Expo Real in Munich.

A green campus, with a focus towards the interior, a solar glass roof and the original Gasometer (gasholder) dome is to be built, conveniently close to the airport and adjacent to the U81 and express bike lanes. In addition, a mobility hub is to be set up as a testing and founding platform for e-mobility, sharing models and autonomous driving.

After handing over the building permit the construction of the EUREF-Campus can now begin. This nationally and internationally important flagship project in the transformation of the energy and mobility sectors starts to take shape. The EUREF-team, start-ups, science und companies will develop solutions for the big challenges of our time here. Together, we will take the opportunity and position Düsseldorf as a top economy and innovation location.

The objectives of the EUREF campus are a perfect match for NRW: Climate-friendly and resource-saving management, new mobility concepts and autonomous driving, the digitalization of products and processes, energy storage and efficient building control are issues to which the state government’s economic policy is also committed.
