EUREF-CAMPUS UNDERGROUND CAR PARK IN DÜSSELDORF TO BE OPERATED BY Q-PARK IN FUTURE

From mid-2024, the car park manager Q-Park will operate the underground car park at the EUREF-Campus Düsseldorf.
The contract was signed on Monday, 24 October 2022, by the project partners Q-Park Operations Germany GmbH & Co. KG and EUREF AG signed the contract on Monday 24 October 2022.

The underground car park with the innovation campus above it is currently being built as part of a project development on the airport site in Düsseldorf’s Lichtenbroich district. The EUREF-Campus Düsseldorf will be the second of its kind of the European Energy Forum in Germany after the location in Berlin. In future, international companies, universities, associations and start-ups will work together in the new centre for sustainability and climate protection on more than 80,000 square metres of office and event space and focus on future topics relating to energy, climate protection technology, environmental protection and mobility.

Just over a week after the foundation stone was laid for the EUREF-Campus Düsseldorf on 14 October 2022, the final contract was signed between Q-Park and EUREF AG. The green real estate laboratory will be built in two construction phases.
The first construction phase also includes the construction of the underground car park, for which Q-Park has now signed the lease agreement. The EUREF-Campus Düsseldorf is scheduled for completion in mid-2025. “The future location, designed for a total of 4,000 employees, and the airport location already promise a high footfall at the site. With Q-Park, we have a professional and innovative operator who will master this capacity utilisation with aplomb,” says EUREF CEO and developer Reinhard Müller.

The planned underground car park with a total of around 687 parking spaces will be located directly next to the airport railway station and will offer its users maximum convenience and first-class service. Q-Park has been operating the current car park at the airport railway station with 228 parking spaces since autumn 2000 and has many years of experience in the airport parking sector. The adjacent long-distance train station offers a long-distance connection for travellers to and from DUS Airport using the SkyTrain. The new underground car park will also serve as a transfer point for commuters and passengers as well as being available for short and long-term parkers. The construction of the new underground car park will replace the current Q-Park “Flughafen Bahnhof” car park.

“We are very pleased to be able to continue working with EUREF AG. We also feel very close to the city of Düsseldorf, where we already operate 13 car park properties,” says Frank Meyer, Managing Director of Q-Park Operations Germany GmbH & Co. KG.
“As a showcase model, the EUREF-Campus Düsseldorf sees itself as a vibrant future location for the energy transition and we are proud to be able to operate the associated state-of-the-art underground car park in the future.”

The car park will be equipped with the latest standards and innovative parking technology to match the Innovation Campus. In addition to the installation of charging stations for electric vehicles, digital parking is an important component here. With the new intelligent parking concept from Q-Park, it will be possible to reserve a parking space in advance online via the Q-Park website and then drive in and out contactlessly using licence plate recognition. In addition, short-term and long-term parkers will be able to use the Q-Park app as a digital means of access. Once the licence plate number has been stored in the app, the barriers will open automatically and the car park can be entered and exited quickly. Payment is then processed using the payment method stored by the customer.
